Gerd Leonhard is a smart dude
Lately, I've been thinking a lot about where the web is going and more specifically the complete shift that has occurred in digital distribution and advertising. I think of my parent's era and how different life would have been.
A coworker recently pointed me towards Gerd Leonhard's work, specifically an hour long presentation he made in London. Not only is it apparent that Gerd knows what he's talking about, but he brings some clarity and insight into what's happening right now in web culture.
To those of us who are always online, some of Gerd's points can seem trivial, but he has a great way of illustrating the "big picture". In the online world, openness, collaboration and sharing are in - walling, push style advertising and control (to an extent) are out, no matter how hard one kicks and screams.
I'll write more about this later but this is it for now.
If you're at all interested and have an hour to spend, check out his presentation here.
